What to Wear to Your Engagement Session

Engagement sessions are so much fun and a great way to get beautiful photos to use for your save-the dates, invitations or thank-you cards, and the images that we create together will become really special family heirlooms that mark this moment in your life story forever. The outfits you choose help set the mood for your engagement photos, so here’s a few tips to help you decide.

This article is by no means a rule book, at the end of the day the outfits you choose don’t matter nearly as much as the memories you make together. Just have fun and enjoy the time being silly with each other!

First things first – wear what makes YOU feel comfortable! Something that you can move around in, and most importantly, something that makes you feel confident and awesome. There are a few ingredients that go into making a beautiful photo, but the biggest one is definitely confidence.

When it comes to choosing outfits, my main suggestion is that you and your partner choose a colour scheme rather than wearing matching colours, patterns, etc. You can choose between one outfit for the whole session or get changed halfway through for two different looks. Solid neutrals, earthy tones and pastels usually photograph really well, but what matters most is that whatever you choose feels representative of you and your partner and your personal style.

Avoid anything with logo’s and branding, but don’t be afraid to accessorize with hats, jewelry, bowties, fun shoes, whatever! If you’ve always dreamt about wearing a flower crown, now’s your chance. Consider booking professional hair and make-up for the day of the e-session day too! It’s one less thing you have to think about and will get you feeling glam before the shoot.
